Landscape in Cappadocia

A watercolor landscape painting I painted in Konya and gave to the lead tour guide Taylan.
Here I was trying to go from a wide view to a more closed in view of the land.

This is a photo I took of Taylan Tasbasi the lead tour guide.
I enjoyed his unpredictable sense of humor and rambling curiosity.

Landscape in Cappadocia

A watercolor I did in Pamukkale and I gave it to Burak who was one of the tour guides.
I like this painting it seems to capture some of the magic quality of the land in Cappadocia.

I took this photo of Burak in Konya.  Burak is explaining  the poet  Rumi to the group
at the Mosque where Rumi is laid to rest.
This post is for Vanessa who sent me such a wonderful christmas card.

Old Hillside at Assos

This painting of a hillside at Assos in Turkey is one of my favorites .
Nothing man made just a hillside with very odd interesting rock formations.

Old Tower

An old tower crumbling and overgrown with weeds, inside there were many snakes crawling on the rocks and dirt.

Daydream at Pergamum

One day I was under a tree at Pergamum and untied a large bag.
A two headed snake crawled out and began crawling near my feet making lines in the grass and sand.

Necropolis

An old Necropolis sliding and crumbling down a hill toward its grand finale a pile of broken stone covered with weeds and dirt

For christmas a friend gave me a set of Guitar brand watercolors.  She had given me a set of small Japanese figures years earlier now I am combining the two and making a series of images based on her gifts, here are the first two paintings.

Assos harbor

A view of the buildings at Assos harbor drawn from the jetty. 

Wonderful surreal chairs in Assos Hotel

The Nazlihan Hotel at Assos harbor is a great location to spend a few days.  The lobby of the Hotel has some wonderful animal like chairs that I believe are made of wicker.  When I was there I remember thinking are those chairs comfortable to sit on?
I never sat in one so maybe I will never know, but the surreal look caught my eye.
